What Is Oud? A Short Guide
Oud, also called agarwood, forms when certain Aquilaria trees produce a dark, fragrant resin in response to infection. The resin-rich wood is rare, which is why oud is valued so highly.
It is used in several forms: wood chips burned as incense (bakhoor), concentrated oil (dehn al oud), and as a note in modern perfumes.
Its scent is often described as woody, warm, and deep, and it varies with origin and age.
